We are hiring a Senior Rust Software Engineer / Technical Lead for placement with one of our reputed international technology clients. The role focuses on complex industrial, operational technology (OT), and systems-level software solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Rust, combined with experience in industrial systems, enterprise integration, industrial protocols, distributed systems, and technically demanding production environments.
This role is suitable for an engineer who can contribute hands-on to architecture and development while also providing technical direction, mentoring, code review, and engineering leadership.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software using Rust.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of complex industrial and systems-level applications.
- Develop reliable, secure, and high-performance software for industrial and OT environments.
- Work with industrial platforms and enterprise systems such as SAP PM, Historians, MES, PLM, and other operational systems.
- Design and implement integrations between IT and OT systems.
- Work with industrial communication protocols including Modbus, OPC-UA, CAN/CAN Bus, and MQTT.
- Develop software for environments requiring high availability, reliability, performance, and operational resilience.
- Work with safety-critical and regulated environments, where applicable.
- Design solutions suitable for air-gapped, restricted-network, and on-premise environments.
- Analyze complex technical requirements and translate them into scalable software architectures.
- Apply Rust concepts including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, memory safety, error handling, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
- Optimize application performance, resource utilization, reliability, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot complex production, integration, networking, and systems-level issues.
- Conduct code reviews and establish engineering best practices.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to development teams.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, Infrastructure, Security, and client teams.
- Support technical documentation, architecture decisions, deployment planning, and operational readiness.
- Contribute to CI/CD, testing, observability, monitoring, and secure software delivery practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
Job Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent practical experience and strong technical expertise may also be considered.
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Rust and systems-level software development.
- Demonstrated experience taking software from design and development through production deployment and support.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, architecture guidance, or code review.
- Experience working with industrial, OT, enterprise integration, or performance-sensitive software environments is highly preferred.

Rust & Systems Programming
- Strong proficiency in Rust.
- Strong understanding of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, error handling, and memory safety.
- Experience with multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous programming, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, debugging, and testing.
Industrial & OT Systems
- Experience with industrial/OT environments and systems integration.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience with:
- SAP PM
- MES – Manufacturing Execution Systems
- PLM – Product Lifecycle Management
- Industrial Historians
- OT/IT integration and industrial data flows.
- Understanding of operational reliability and systems deployed in industrial environments.
